Blockchain for Government details a Use Cases Roadmap and a Technology Platform Blueprint.
Combined with key technologies like Digital Identity the Blockchain is a core technology to form the foundation infrastructure for a Digital Economy. The objective of this action plan is to form an industry expert group and develop a national roadmap proposal and blueprint.
Countries like the UK, India and Australia have developed national Blockchain roadmaps. These serve as a catalyst for innovation, bringing together participants from across academia, government and business, as well as documenting an investment framework for advancing adoption of the technology.
As Wikipedia describes: “A blockchain, originally block chain, is a growing list of records, called blocks, that are linked using cryptography. Each block contains a cryptographic hash of the previous block, a timestamp, and transaction data (generally represented as a Merkle tree).”
All documents and transactions can be certified digitally and recorded in a non-tamperable way to assure their authenticity, in the same way they may be signed and approved in the offline world by official bodies and persons.
