Blockchain for Government details a Use Cases Roadmap and a Technology Platform Blueprint.

Combined with key technologies like Digital Identity the Blockchain is a core technology to form the foundation infrastructure for a Digital Economy. The objective of this action plan is to form an industry expert group and develop a national roadmap proposal and blueprint.

Countries like the UKIndia and Australia have developed national Blockchain roadmaps. These serve as a catalyst for innovation, bringing together participants from across academia, government and business, as well as documenting an investment framework for advancing adoption of the technology.

As Wikipedia describes“A blockchain, originally block chain, is a growing list of records, called blocks, that are linked using cryptography. Each block contains a cryptographic hash of the previous block, a timestamp, and transaction data (generally represented as a Merkle tree).”

All documents and transactions can be certified digitally and recorded in a non-tamperable way to assure their authenticity, in the same way they may be signed and approved in the offline world by official bodies and persons.
